Tine Tunga

TINE:

TINE is a food group with the co-operative TINE SA, owned by milk producers across the country, as the parent company. The TINE Group is one of Norway's largest food companies and operates as a full-scale supplier of dairy products. Our business idea is to use clean and natural raw materials to produce tasty and healthy food. We aim to achieve this by closely integrating Norwegian nature, agriculture, consumers, and the market. With a nationwide presence, TINE creates value through the close interaction between Norwegian nature, agriculture, and the market, while fostering a strong connection between nature, agriculture, consumers, and trade.

TINE Tunga Dairy:

TINE Tunga Dairy is located in Trondheim and specializes in the production of various dairy products. The dairy produces market milk, fermented milk, cream, Biola, Culltura, Go 'Morgen yoghurt, Tine yoghurt, as well as bottled products such as YT. With an annual production of approximately 75 million liters, TINE Tunga Dairy selects and distributes goods to the entire central Norway region.

Objective:

One of the challenges faced by TINE Tunga Dairy was the logging and control of CIP (Cleaning-in-Place) processes. The company aimed to reduce its environmental footprint by lowering emissions and reducing the consumption of water, detergent, and energy.

Solution:

TINE Tunga Dairy implemented a CIP station delivered by Skala in March 2018. The energy optimization of the CIP processes resulted in significant energy savings of approximately 1.5 GWh compared to traditional CIP stations. This energy-saving is equivalent to the average energy consumption of around 60 Norwegian households. The project utilized precise 3D modeling for planning and implementation. Advanced temperature control enables optimization, with energy from hot washing water being reused in the washing station after CIP. The LTLine CIP system, specifically developed for optimizing CIP processes, was automated for efficient operation.

The delivery included:

  • 9 tanks
  • A large valve cluster
  • 3 heat exchangers
  • Instrumentation and automation with LTline
