Hennig-Olsen Is
Hennig-Olsen Is:
Hennig-Olsen Is is the oldest ice cream producer in the Nordic region, known for developing and producing premium quality ice cream based on secret recipes for over 90 years. With a factory located in Hannevika, outside Kristiansand, Hennig-Olsen produces approximately 30 million liters of ice cream and frozen desserts annually. With a workforce of 270 employees, the factory has a capacity of 2-3 tonnes per shift, accounting for nearly half of the Norwegian ice cream market.
Hennig-Olsen Is produces its own chocolate, caramel, almond brittle, and jam. The company has regional offices in Oslo, Haugesund, Bergen, Molde, Trondheim, and Tromsø.
Objective:
The customer sought a more streamlined production process for chocolate to handle future requirements. The project had a six-month deadline to be completed, before the ice cream season in Norway began.
Solutions:
The solution involved the implementation of several components. This included:
- 6 new tanks with heating jackets for hot water
- a valve cluster with full flexibility
- and 5 new lines (totaling 1000 meters) with heating jackets for hot water.
Each line was equipped with seven distribution points, which were activated at regular intervals of 30 seconds. Additionally, the project included a heating section specifically designed for hot water, with a maximum heating loss of 0.5 degrees Celsius.
The project used precise 3D modeling for planning and implementation. The advanced temperature control facilitated utilization of energy from hot washing water to be reused in the washing station after CIP (Cleaning-in-Place). The LTLine CIP system, specially developed for optimizing CIP processes, ensured efficient automation.
The delivery included:
- 9 tanks
- a large valve cluster
- 3 heat exchangers
- and instrumentation and automation with LTline
The successful implementation of the project yielded remarkable outcomes, as production witnessed a Considerable improvement to an impressive rate of 1100 kg per hour. This significant increase in productivity extended across a diversified range of 15 distinct chocolate recipes, further amplifying the operational capabilities and versatility of the facility.
